NEW YORK: A Ready to Where Guide
Growing up with New York's museums and landmarks at my fingertips I was always inspired by the city's fashion and energy. Here's a city guide I give to traveling friends.
Â
DAY 1
Walking Midtown/Central Park
Starting with a light breakfast at Grand Central Station - look up at ceiling for zodiac mural (the work has been reversed I find this mural to be so beautiful). Check out Murray's Cheese & Zabar's for some quick bites
Summit One Vanderbilt - this might be one of the most touristy things worth doing to see the city with a 360 view
Bryant Park - grab a coffee and do some people watching if the weather permits
Times Square - enjoy the soup dumplings at Kung Fu Kitchen when you've had enough lights
Magnolia Bakery-sweet lovers, make your way up to this destination. Famous for their Red Velvet cupcakes, but i suggest trying the more classic Banana Pudding
Fifth Ave/Madison Ave -Â designer boutiques are here as well as the classics: Saks, Tiffany's, Bergdorf's..
Ready for a Museum? head over to the MOMA which is my favorite
Plaza Hotel-make a stop at the Plaza food court for some gourmet lunch options. Perfect for a picnic in Central Park
Central Park - have a pretzel while you're waiting to rent a boat at The BoathouseÂ
DAY 2
Below 14th Street (West Village/Soho/LES)Â
Have Brunch in the West Village: Rosemary's, Palma, The Dutch
Pick up some magazines at Casa Magazines
Have a Facial at Karine Kazarian - IYKYK, (schedule ahead)
Washington Square Park - grab a coffee at Stumptown and head over to the park for some people watching
SOHO Shopping Streets- Crosby, Mott, Elizabeth Streets area until you hit Grand, grab lunch around Little Italy/ Chinatown
LES/East Village - shop vintage gems at James Veloria, Desert Vintage, and Search & Destroy. While you're around - visit the neighborhood's small gardens that are open to public. Elizabeth Street Garden is one of the better known parks)
Evening-come back at night for some jazz at Blue Note - book ahead
DAY 3:
Red Hook, Brooklyn
Take the ferry from Manhattan to see the iconic cityscape and land in one of my favorite parts of Brooklyn
EAT: Hometown - BBQ, Redhook Lobster - Lobster Rolls, Steve's Key Lime Pie (you'll be able to see the Statue of Liberty in the distance)
DRINK: Redhook Coffee, Widow Jane Distillery, Strong Rope Brewery
SHOP: Record Shop - Records & Books, Apotheke - Candles, and Vintage!!Â
